Trail Descriptions

Nuclear power: Friend or Foe?
Today we will be looking at the idea of Nuclear energy.
Society is divided on this issue; some love the idea and reckon it can solve all our energy needs into the future, others feel it is too risky and can cause health defects that last for generations.
We will go to Melbourne Uni to interview an anti nuclear professor and later we will visit Minerals Australia in the CBD to hear their pro nuclear stance.
It promises to be a lot of fun and we hope to answer this burning question about energy into the future.

Sustainable Fashion meets Social Justice

Are your cupboards heaving with clothes that you never wear? How often do you go shopping for new clothes? Do you ever think about what went in to making them - environmental impact, fair wages, import costs??
We are going to meet up with two amazing organisations who have brought social justice to sustainable fashion:
Fitted For Work is an organisation that supports women to re-enter the workplace, providing training & access to second hand business wear.
Hunter Gatherer, part of the Brotherhood of St Laurence, helped make op-shopping mainstream: their shops are a celebration of vintage. All sales contribute to the social justice work that BSL does in the community.
We will get to participate in workshops, visit the store and hopefully - spark some ideas about what you can do with all those clothes you never wear!!

Local Action, Global Future

We will be travelling down to St Kilda to the Port Philip Eco Centre where we will be conducting research into sustainability of our waterways, our urban landscape and our lifestyles. Our day will be one of exploration, discovery, personal investigation, team work and an insight into many of the various aspects of sustainability.
